Re-decorating at Gardeners Cottage

There is nothing life a fresh coat of paint to spruce up the cottage

This week Gardeners Cottage is empty, and we are taking the opportunity to do a spot of re-decorating.

Coastal Colour scheme

Much of the cottage is painted in a coastal colour scheme using Farrow and Ball paints including Blue Green shown above which is on the front door, windows, barge boards and one of the bathrooms woodwork. We have also used many of the Farrow and Ball colours internally including Joas White on the woodwork on the stairs, hallway and two of the bathrooms and Elephants Breath on the woodwork in one of the ensuites. We find this colour palette works well in the cottage and has a coastal feel, reflecting the colours of the North Norfolk coast. Most of the internal doors are painted in Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell Pointing as is much of painted the furniture in the kitchen.

We love painted furniture in the cottage

The furniture has then been lightly sanded & waxed with an aging wax to give it a distressed look and fit in with the shabby chic colour scheme in the kitchen. This is not only light and airy but very practical.
