Gardeners Cottage Blakeney Glaucous-Leaved Yellow Meadow Rue Seeds

• An easy-to-grow, hardy perennial that grows in our Mid-Norfolk Garden
• An attractive grey-green mound of leaves, with spikes of multi-stemmed pale yellow flower stalks 3-4-feet high in early summer.
• Flowers May June
• An absolute magnet to bees and other pollinators, providing a reliable supply of necter throughout theearly summer months.
• Other common names include Meadow Rue, Thalictrum flavum, Flase rhubarb
• Self-seeds when established
• Mixing well with herbaceous plantings, the fluffy cloud like flowers are held on open stems reaching 3-4 feet
• It is great grown in the front of the border or the edge of a path.
  
• Very easy to grow, and can be sown directly where you want them to grow in the autumn as nature does. However we find the best method with this seed, is to plant in seed compost in seed trays or pots in late summer or early spring, which makes it much easier to spot your baby Rue plants.
• Seeds sown in autumn may over-winter and germinate the following spring
• If sowing in spring sow March to May in seed trays under cover. 

Meadow Rue can be grown as single plants, but for maximum impact, plant in groups of 5 to 7 with a foot to 18-inches between plants.  It's easy to cultivate, disease resistant, and doesn't get eaten by the wildlife that we spotted so it makes an ideal addition to any cottage garden

When is the best time to sow Meadow Rue seeds in UK

In the UK, Rue seeds would naturally spread from the plant and germinate over the late summer and autumn, young plants form rosette crowns of leaves and are most likely to flower the following summer. Seeds planted in early spring will form good-size plants in a single season and flower in August and September.

To extend the flowering season, we usually do a combination of both.
