Cottage Garden Honesty Seed

Honesty is a reliable biennial in the farm garden and is grown for its early spring purple sprays of flowers, but also for its translucent disk-shaped seed pods that glow in autumn when frost encrusted.

The large flat seeds can be sown all year round and will germinate when ready. Young plants grow during year one and flower the following spring, some will form short lived perennials, but most plants loose their vigour after producing masses of seeds.

Honesty is self-supporting and produces lots of upright flower stems around 2-foot tall, masses of drooping flowers in Late April and May

Growing Information:

• 🌱 Sow: any time of year by scattering the seeds in their final flowering position. Alternatively, in seed compost and transplant to flowering position when the plants are at the 4 leaf stage.

• ☀️ Position: Ideal Dappled shade and tolerates very poor and gravel-filled soils

• 📏 Spacing: Grow in small clumps, or as single plants, grows well in gravel and will grow in pots.

• 🌾 Harvest: seed from brown seed pods in Autumn and sow immediately. or leave to seed naturally
